  • My favorite teacher is my high school English teacher. I was fortunate to have her for 3 years in a row. She always went above and beyond the normal expectations to help us out, and she fought for our rights as students when the SOLs came around.

  • My favorite teacher was my Mom, Mary Agnes Dew. She taught me in 5th grade (language arts and social studies) as well as every day of my life. Her passion and love for teaching inspired me to become a teacher as well.

My favorite teacher was an elderly nun at my high school, Sister Georgette. She taught art class and asked shy little me to be her “Art Room Assistant”. I loved every after-school second of it! That was so many years ago that I lost count, but I have been teaching art for over 20 years and I love it!

  • My third grade teacher was my favorite, and she is the reason I became a teacher! This will be my 25th year! Thanks Mrs. Romas. I entered on Facebook and Twitter, also signed up for email (although I thought I already was!)

My favorite teacher was Mr. Madera. He taught me for 5th and 6th grade. It was from him that I got over my fear of learning math. I am still not the greatest but I do ok. I have been in continued contact with him throughout all of these years – I am now 41, so it has been a long time. He and his family are a wonderful addition to my list of people who I can call friend.

I have taught SPED for 15 years. In that time i have moved from 2nd to high school. This year I will move into 1st grade. On the last day of school one of my students came up to me and said, “just promise me that you will come back next year to see me graduate. ” I’ve have him off and on over the years since 2nd grade. I have litterally seen from grow from a wee little kid to a very nice young man! I cherish the fact that not too many teachers get to experience that!

  • My favorite teacher was my third grade teacher, Ms. Chattin. She always encouraged us to do our best and never failed to amaze me when it came to what she did for is. When she passed away in 1999 it broke my heart. She was so young and full of live and taken way too soon. So many kiddos were not afforded the same experience I was having been a student in her class.

My favorite teacher was my American History teacher in high school. He had such a vast knowledge that we were able to play a Jeopardy-style game to review for tests and he was able to come up with the questions off the top of his head. He truly inspired learning to take place and I will always remember him as being one of the best teachers I ever had! I shared this piston Facebook. Thanks for the opportunity =)

Mrs Briarly was a 5th grade teacher at Carlton Palmore Elementary School. She made the classroom a more personal and creative space. She brought art in as part of our learning environment. She was sweet and warm, and gave special one to one attention to students. She gave me confidence, and let me know I was of worth. She is forever in my memory of special people who gave from their heart.

We had fun playing games and learning in kindergarten and I especially enjoyed the little graduation we had in which I received a kindergarten diploma! I will always remember her. She was very special to the whole class!

I don’t like to pick favorite students, but I do think it is pretty special that I was able to have my daughter as a student for the past three years in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade English — one of the benefits of teaching in a small school!
